Dziadziu

Being in a transition period I have found myself thinking quite a bit about my Dziadziu who passed away last February. Maybe it's because I have his picture in his car that I spend three hours in every day, or because he is reaching out to me for some reason, but I have felt a connection the last couple of days. He was a great man. Sometimes a little gruff and not as diplomatic as we all would have liked, but he was strong, honest, loving and would give both friends and family the shirt off his back if they needed it. I know both my Dad and I talk to him often and I think I can safely say we both miss him very much!

Please enjoy some of my favorite photo's of the real Big Guy!

Fall Foliage Daycation

Hello all. Great to hear how much everyone is enjoying the Blog! We had a great Saturday. Loaded up with the dogs in the AM and headed north with no plan other than a hike, some foliage and a good meal.
We ended up heading to Castle in the Clouds. It is an amazing stone mansion in the White Mountains that was built in 1914 and is now a 5800 acre preservation. The owner hired 12oo workers, including 120 stone workers and crafted the mansion in just 18 months. We hiked in and around the trails on the auto road to the top of the mountain. Lisa found a great stump with moss that looks just like a turtle. Who needs the Man on the Mountain? The mansion is unbelievable, from the view to the innovation the builders crafted in 1914. It had running water, electricity and central vac. Decades ahead of its time! We have already decided that this is where Nicole is getting married and I'm putting together a Dream Team of Chefs for the Wedding of the Century!!!!!!!!!(just kidding, but it sure would be awesome)
We made our way over to North Conway. Picked our pumpkins at a small farm and then traversed over to Moat Mt Smokehouse for a quick meal. On the way back home we shot over West Side Road and came across an Elk grazing in a pasture on the side of the road. First time either of us has seen an Elk in the wild.
Another great Daycation. GO SOX!

One Day - Two Weddings

Crazy Sunday for us. Two weddings! The first was on the Party Boat the Odessey in Boston Harbor. This wedding was one of Lisa's dear friends from her Children's Place days, Michelle. It was our first Floating Wedding. We then headed out to the historic section of MA known as Cape Ann for the wedding of Heidi Shupp, one of Dole & Bailey's great Buyers. It was a beautiful ceremony and then a great reception with D&B Gang.

SO GOOD - SO GOOD -SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fall Festivals

This past weekend Lisa and I took one of our famous Daycations. It is Fall Festival season in New Hampshire and we had our pick of many. We started first by heading up to Canterbury NH to the old Shaker Village. A beautiful Harvest Fest featuring local farm animals and artisans selling everything from hand carved bowls and jewelry to cheese and smoked meats. After a couple hours we proceeded west to Hillsboro NH and their large German community to take in Shnitzel Fest. Beer, Brats and Brass Band.......How could we pass that up!!!??!!!!
