Doggy DayCation

Lisa and I love what we call "DayCations". We start early in the morning with a loaded cooler, the dogs and a full tank of gas. Sometimes we have a destination in mind and other time (usually the better ones) we just end up going where the car takes us. One of our favorite destination spots is a well hidden, classic swimming hole called "The Ladies Bathtub" in Lincoln NH. We took off for The Tub early Saturday morning. The trip up was smooth and easy with a great new audiobook from the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. An hour and forty five minutes later we were hanging out on the Pemigwasset River under clear blue skies and had the spot almost to ourselves. The dogs love this spot, bouncing in and out of the shallows and Zoe could sit and stare at the chipmunks and birds on the opposite shore all day. We hung out for about 3 hours and started feeling a little crispy. At this point I lost all sense of sanity and actually went in for a full dip. The water temp had to have been in the fifties, the river still being fueled by winter runoff from the mountains. It was hands down the coldest water I have ever been in.................YIKES.
We then packed up and headed across The White Mountain National Forest via the Kancamagus Highway. "The Kanc" cuts across the valley via 28 miles of twisting and turning roads that climb and then descend a full 3000 feet. This is a beautiful ride any time of the year.
Upon landing on the Conway side of the forest we hit West Side Road and headed toward the White Mountain Resort. We had couple of drinks and a great dinner. They are a great customer of Dole & Baileys and the bartender Dave and The Chef took great care of us. We then took the slow route throught Tamworth and down Route 16 while listening to our novel.

A perfect DayCation!

On Saturday evening May 19th a group of 20 gathered at Palmer's in Andover MA to celebrate the 60th Birthday of my Mom, Laraine Brylczyk. We were joined by all of the New England Brylczyk's, the Carriuolo's, former teaching partners, Kevin and Maureen, and Mom's Scrabble partner Marie Wolfendale.
We had a nice three course meal, a lot of stories and laughs and as you can see Nate loved the Birthday cake!!!

Horsing Around

On a patented New England spring day Lisa and I were blessed to be able to join our great friends Billy and Nancy as they cheered on their budding equestrian star Matti Burns. Miss Matti was competing in Topsfield MA, home of the oldest country fair in this great nation. It was her first competition on her trusty steed Jasper the Jewel. She was competing in a group with several older girls and held her own taking home a fifth place in the Dresage and a fourth place overall after rocking the jumping competition. Matti showed poise and maturity well beyond her years and we look forward to attending many competitions in the years to come(especially when Billy gets the trailer with awning, grill, cooler and satellite dish).
After the competition we settled back in Boxford at the Burns household and the natural order took over, Women in the barn and the Men in the kitchen. Lisa made the rounds and each horse got a kiss and a nose rub. Billy and I listened to the Sox score 6 in the ninth for a stirring 6-5 win as a they continue their start for the ages. We prepared a beautiful NEFF Brigadoon Farms Kobe Ribeye raised in Vermont, Asparagus Almondine, Cucumber and Dill Salad and a spicy Renwood Zinfindel.

How do you top off a perfect day..............

Classic Fremont Spring Weekend

Hello all! Hope you are well. Lisa and I worked our BUTTS off this weekend, but had a great time. We spent Saturday raking some garden beds and planting some herbs, lettuce and cabbage. We then settled in for a classic Kentucky Derby. Great race and great meal. Started off with Mint Juleps. Spicy bourbon glazed Pork Chops, Mashed Sweet Potatoes and, Spinach and Pecan Stuffed Mushrooms. Finished the night off with some Pecan Pie and an episode of Deadwood.

Sunday we dropped my car off for service and took the dogs for a morning breakfast picnic in an Exeter park. The rest of the day consisted of six hours of back breaking yard work. We broke down about four trees that had come down during late winter storms and then dragged them out to the back woods. We then cleared out beside our garden beds, hauled two loads of compost and set in a new strawberry patch. Six hours down about a 100 more to go!!!!!!!

Talk to you soon,

The Fremont B's

Welcome to Brylczyk Blog

With friends and family spread throughout the country Lisa and I have often wished we could share our lives easier. We started by creating our Online Photo Album www.brylczyk.myphotoalbum.com, but were left unfulfilled by the inability of being able to write about the events surrounding the pictures. We now enter into the Universe of Blogging and hope to share trips, events and fun stories of Ernie and Zoe's exploits. I hope that we will have stories worthy of sharing soon and hope this finds you all happy and healthy.

With love,

Ed, Lisa, Ernie, Zoe and Cassidy
