In late May we were visited by Becky and Jenks from Guana Cay and took them to their first ever game at Fenway Park. It also happened to be a Sox/Yankees game and the Sox pulled out the victory.
Over the summer we has a Mini Andover High School reunion here in Fremont. Steffi Shultz and her husband David. Leela, Maureen Krahn, Andy Bernard, Devon and Warren via Skype. It was a great time with lots of laughs and great weather.
In August we spent a long weekend in DC with Lisa's parents, brother and nephews. We packed 20 days of sightseeing into five and still don't think we saw a tenth of the city. It was great time and amazing to see how much the boys have grown and how they are becoming young men.
In late October we broke ground on what will now be tradition. The Fremont Annual Hoe Down-Throw Down. Corey hauled up his smoker and we spent all night working on Brisket, Butts, Ribs and Sausage. Lisa converted the back yard into a country oasis, complete with Nippers North and over 50 people, stuffed themselves, drank, danced and sang well into the midnite hour.
Over the summer we also found an amazing destination for the dogs called Dog Mountain. In St. Johnsbury VT it was the crowning achievement of artist Steve Huneck. Several hundred acres that are dotted with ponds, trails and dog art. Completely dog friendly and one of those places that the moment you arrive you know you are someplace very special. We ended up making several visits this year and it is now one of the pup's favorite places.
My college room-mate Bob Davis and I fell in love with the music of the Grateful Dead. This year the band Furthur has brought that sound back to life and Bobby and I got back on the bus.....we caught two shows together this year in Lowell and Worcester. I also caught shows in Manchester and at the Gathering of the Vibes. During the year I was lucky to strike up a friendship with one of the new singers and ended up with Back Stage Passes for the Worcester show. Bobby and I had come full circle 20 years in the making. Pretty Cool!
One of the real special aspects of this year has been the ever growing and expanding friendship with our neighbors. We spent MANY weekends with them on our decks, kitchens and living rooms. We love our neighbors and our neighborhood!!!
With Thanksgiving week being quiet for both of us work wise we snuck up to the Camden ME are and spent four quiet nights in a log cabin. No alarm, no phone, great hiking, and some really good food. Back for Turkey Day.
Lisa and I are Thankful for our pups, each other and all of our Family and Friends.
