On a patented New England spring day Lisa and I were blessed to be able to join our great friends Billy and Nancy as they cheered on their budding equestrian star Matti Burns.
Miss Matti was competing in Topsfield MA, home of the oldest country fair in this great nation. It was her first competition on her trusty steed Jasper the Jewel. She was competing in a group with several older girls and held her own taking home a fifth place in the Dresage and a fourth place overall after rocking the jumping competition. Matti showed poise and maturity well beyond her years and we look forward to attending many competitions in the years to come(especially when Billy gets the trailer with awning, grill, cooler and satellite dish).
After the competition we settled back in Boxford at the Burns household
and the natural order took over, Women in the barn and the Men in the kitchen. Lisa made the rounds and each horse got a kiss and a nose rub. Billy and I listened to the Sox score 6 in the ninth for a stirring 6-5 win as a they continue their start for the ages. We prepared a beautiful NEFF Brigadoon Farms Kobe Ribeye raised in Vermont, Asparagus Almondine, Cucumber and Dill Salad and a spicy Renwood Zinfindel.
